Staples High School Wins State Fencing Championship Some Fairfield County high school fencing competitors were crowned as the best in Connecticut after earning top honors at the state championship. Juniors Gleb Syomichev, Peter Loranger, and sophomore Max Piterbarg at Staples High School in Westport faced some of the toughest opponents in Connecticut, but came out on top to claim the title on Sunday, March 13 at the tournament held at North Haven High School in New Haven County.
