2 CT Women Who Died After Being Swept Away By Flood Waters Identified By Police
Two Connecticut women who died after being swept away by floodwaters in separate incidents have been identified. According to the National Weather Service, the incidents occurred in New Haven County around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, on Route 67 in Oxford, which received more than 10 inches of rain. According to Connecticut State Police Cpl. Daniel Loughman, the women were in vehicles stuck in floodwaters that washed away their cars from the Little River. One woman was killed when a firefighter attempted to rescue her but was unable to do so, and she was swept away, state police said. The …

Teenage Bicyclist Hospitalized After Hit-Run Incident, State Police Say
Police investigators in the area are seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to track down a motorist who hospitalized a teenage bicyclist and took off. An 18-year-old bicyclist was struck on Route 67 in front of the entrance to Market 32 in Oxford at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The teen was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New Haven. Man Who Burned Down Oxford House At Owner's Request Nabbed, Police Say
A Westchester man who was allegedly commissioned to burn a rental house down in Connecticut and attempted to elude arrest has been busted by police following a two-year investigation. Connecticut State Police announced the arrest of Yonkers resident Leon “Pops” Carson, Jr., who was allegedly set a mattress on fire at an Oxford rental home at the behest of the owner, Delores Lee, who had recently taken out a $300,000 insurance policy on the property. Police To Ramp Up Roving Patrols, Sobriety Checkpoint Over Holiday Weekend
With one of the busiest driving weekends of the year fast approaching, local and state law enforcement agencies in Connecticut have plans to ramp up special enforcement details during the Memorial Day Weekend holiday.
