Three More Unlocked Vehicles With Keys Inside Stolen In New Canaan Over Weekend Residents continue to leave their vehicles unlocked in Fairfield County, and opportunistic thieves continue to break into them and steal them, police said. The New Canaan Police Department issued an alert on Monday, Aug. 31 after a third vehicle was stolen out of the city over the weekend. Police said that shortly before 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 31, the department received a report that a 2020 Mazda CX-5 was stolen from the driveway of a New Norwalk Road home after it was left unlocked with the key inside.
