Massive Three-Alarm Fire Breaks Out At Historic Building In Connecticut
A massive blaze broke out at a historic building in Connecticut which was once a hotel, displacing residents and injuring at least three firefighters.
The three-alarm fire started in in Litchfield County, in the Town of New Hartford, around 2:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10, on the third floor and the roof of the building at 4 Bridge St., Jon Barbagallo, public information officer for Norfolk said.
According to Barbagallo, 75 to 100 first responders are on the scene and to work as stand-by units.

CT Man Who Stabbed Himself When Confronted By Cops Was Wanted For Kidnapping
A Connecticut man who repeatedly stabbed himself in front of detectives was wanted by police for attempting to kidnap a Red Cross employee for stealing her belongings and running her over with her own car.
David O’Brien, age 30, of Haddam, was captured by Hartford Police on Tuesday, Feb. 2, in connection with the event which took place in Farmington on Friday, Jan. 29, said Farmington Police Lieutenant Tim McKenzie.

ID Released For Woman Killed In CT House Fire
A Connecticut woman killed in a single-family home fire has been identified by officials.
The fire, which took place on Elmfield Street home around 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 prompted the evacuation of three residents, and killed one, in West Hartford, according to the West Hartford Fire Department.
The person killed, a resident of the home, was identified as Holly Baron, 60, said Deputy Fire Marshal Robert Grimaldi.
When West Hartford firefighters responded to the scene they reported heavy fire from the front of the home, the department said.

Earthquake Felt In Parts Of Connecticut, Long Island
If you were suddenly awoken by a shaking sensation this weekend - it wasn’t a dream. You felt an earthquake.
On Sunday, Nov. 8, around 9 a.m., the earthquake was detected at a magnitude 3.6 centered in Massachusetts off the coast of New Bedford in Buzzard’s Bay, according to the National Earthquake Center.
Shockwaves, which don’t appear to have caused much damage, were felt in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, as well as some parts of Connecticut and Long Island. Still, 21 people in New Bedford required assistance from the Red Cross after being displaced by the quake.
Man Accused Of Starting Fires At Two CT Homes, Police Say
As firefighters responded to three house fires, police arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly starting two of the blazes.
The call for the first fire was received around 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, in Litchfield County, at a two-story, cape style single-family home in Torrington, said Torrington Police Lt. Brett Johnson.
When the Torrington Fire Department arrived on the scene of the fire on Torrinford West Street, they found the residence fully engulfed in flames, as well as a Honda vehicle in the driveway, Torrington Fire Chief Peter Towey said.
