Two young Connecticut filmmakers have made it to the finals for a Student Emmy for their documentary on ABC journalist Bob Woodruff, who nearly died covering the war in Iraq and his work to help troops who suffered the same fate as him. Emily Sedgwick and Devan Jordan, both 2024 Sacred Heart Greenwich alumnae, made the movie titled "Upon Return." The documentary won-out over thousands of entries to make the finals for the illustrious prize. Woodruff was riding on top of a tank in 2006 in Iraq when it was hit by an IED. Greenwich Detective Out Of Coma After Brain Surgery As Community Rallies Around His Family
A fundraiser for a Connecticut police veteran who had fallen into a coma following surgery to remove a brain tumor has raised more than $100,000 to support his family. Greenwich Police Detective Mike Rooney underwent the delicate procedure at Yale New Haven Hospital earlier this month, but, during the operation, he suffered a "tremendous amount of swelling" and fell into a coma, said Peter Schmitt, president of the Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association. Ali Truwit will return home to Connecticut to a hero's welcome after winning two silver medals in swimming at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Steroids can be used to combat COVID-19, according to new guidelines issued by the World Health Organization. Countries should stock up on steroids now, the WHO advised on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Marconi tested positive for the second time on Friday, May 1, town officials announced.
