New Fairfield Man Caught Drunk Driving After Almost Hitting Pole: Police Several people were nabbed on drunk driving charges in the Hudson Valley over the holiday weekend, including a Westchester woman rescued from a rolled-over car and a taxi driver, police said. The arrests were announced by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, Oct. 17, and were all made over Columbus Day weekend.  The first incident happened on Friday, Oct. 11 in Putnam Valley, when a car crashed and flipped on Church Road in the area of Kramers Pond Road.  Arriving sheriff's deputies found a vehicle on its side with downed live wires nearby. Deer Rescued In Area After Snout Gets Stuck In Halloween Bucket For Days A yearling deer with its snout stuck in a Halloween bucket for days was saved thanks to concerned residents and animal control officials. The deer was seen in Putnam Valley by a couple of residents who then called the Putnam County SPCS and state Encon officials who were able to grab the baby and gently work the pumpkin bucket off of its head. Reportedly, the bucket was stuck on the deer for four days, and once it was posted to social media people across the country became concerned about the poor little deer. A 2.2 magnitude earthquake was reported early Wednesday morning near the Northern Westchester/Putnam about 3 miles north, northwest of Mohegan Lake. The earthquake was reported at 6:14 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.  The quake’s epicenter was in Crofts Corner in Putnam Valley, and located 7.7 miles from Jefferson Valley and 9 miles from Peekskill, according to the USGS.
