A woman has been charged after police say she attempted to bite officers while she was in distress. Kaela Augustine, 26, of Queens, turned herself in to New Canaan Police on Monday, Dec. 2 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Police were dispatched to the area of Park Street near Pine Street on a report of a woman in distress inside a vehicle on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Woman Found Stopped In Intersection Under Influence - Of Vanilla Extract, New Canaan Police Say
A woman is facing a driving under the influence charge after New Canaan Police allegedly discovered her behind the wheel of a stopped vehicle in an intersection with her eyes closed. Police were dispatched to the intersection of Grove Street and Pine Street at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23 after hearing a report of a vehicle stopped in an intersection. More Than A Dozen Thefts From Public Mailboxes Reported In New Canaan
New Canaan Police are warning residents to avoid using the large USPS mailboxes if possible after a rise in thefts from the boxes. Lt. Jason Ferraro said the town has experienced at least 12 reported cases of the "phishing" type thefts from mailboxes on Main and Pine streets. "We even had instances where bills and checks are being stolen from residential mailboxes which have a flag up," Ferraro said.
