The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. when the two were ice skating. Harry Jewett, 60, of Old Lyme, did not resurface. After a search-and-rescue operation, his body was recovered around 4:30 p.m., state police said. His friend, Larry Buhl of North Haven, 51, was rescued after clinging to a chunk of ice while up to his shoulders in the freezing water, according to police. He was hospitalized with hypothermia.
