New Canaan Police Officers Honored For Saving Person Who Was Not Breathing Two New Canaan officers are being recognized for recently saving a person who was having difficulty breathing and had lost consciousness. According to New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski, Sgt. Aaron LaTourette and Officer Matthew Blank arrived at the scene within two minutes of receiving the call.  Once on the scene, the two quickly determined that the patient was not breathing and had no pulse.  The officers deployed an automatic external defibrillator, which administered a shock. The incident took place around 9 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, when responding to a report of a vehicle fire on Rosebrook Road, said New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski. Officers arrived within minutes of being dispatched, and found a vehicle off the road, fully engulfed in flames. Two of the arriving officers, Sgt.
