20 Shots Fired: 8-Year-Old Hit During Shootout In Bridgeport An 8-year-old boy was shot during a shootout between two men on a Fairfield County street. The incident took place in Bridgeport around 11 p.m., Sunday, July 23, at the 300 block of Orchard Street when 16 rounds were detected by ShotSpoetter, and another four rounds were discharged within the 300 block of Spring St.  A few minutes later the Bridgeport Police Emergency Operations Center received reports of a person shot in the ear in the 200 block of Orchard Street, said Capt. Shelton Man Threatens To Kill GOP Presidential Hopeful Ron DeSantis, Police Say A Fairfield County man was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Florida Gov. and GOP Presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis with a gun. Brendan Hughes, age 22, of Shelton, was arrested on Friday, July 14, said Lt. Robert Kozlowsky of the Shelton Police. Hughes was charged with threatening and held on a $1,000 bond, Kozlowsky said. Jahmari Cooper, age 23, of Bridgeport, was sentenced Wednesday, April 12 to 45 years in prison for the October 11, 2017 gunshot murder of Jeri Kollock, Jr., age 18, in the Green Homes Housing Project in Bridgeport, said Fairfield Judicial District State’s Attorney Joseph Corradino.
