Fairfield County Man Drowns At Candlewood Lake, Police Say
State police are reporting that a man who was pulled from a Fairfield County lake in cardiac arrest has died from drowning. The victim, Adao Nogueira, age 53, of Danbury, was rescued from Button Island in New Fairfield around 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 16. Brookfield Volunteer Fire and EMS were dispatched to the island for a reported drowning on Candlewood Lake, according to the Connecticut State Police. A beloved Northern Westchester art teacher has been identified as one of the two Fairfield County residents killed during Tuesday's powerful storms that left a swath of destruction across the region. Two Killed In Fairfield County During Storm
Two Fairfield County residents were killed and several injured as a high-powered storm system ripped through the area downing trees and power lines. A 41-year-old New Fairfield woman was killed around 5 p.m. Tuesday on Brush Hill Road when a tree fell on her vehicle, pinning her inside, said Connecticut State Trooper Sgt. Eric Haglund.
