Wilton Girls Sweep Cross Country Race

Wilton's girls swept to victory in a quad meet Tuesday at Tod's Point, defeating Staples, Greenwich and Danbury. Danbury swept the competition on the boys side in the last Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference dual meet. The league championship races will be run Oct. 21 at Waveny Park in New Canaan.

In the girls meet, Wilton wrapped up an undefeated season by beating Staples, 18-40; Greenwich, 24-36; and Danbury, 15-42. Staples beat Greenwich, 26-33, and lost to Staples, 26-30. Danbury also beat Greenwich, 25-35. Camille Matonis of Greenwich won the race in 16:39, followed by Wilton's Zoe Gaston in 16:49. Staples' Ingrid Johnson took fifth in 16:55 to pace the Wreckers.

In the boys race, Danbury defeated Staples, 19-36; Greenwich, 16-47; and Wilton, 21-37. Staples beat Wilton, 25-34, and Greenwich, 19-44. Wilton beat Greenwich, 18-42. Danbury's Alex Levine won the race in 15:50, while Wilton's Danny Prospect was third in 16:03, followed by teammate Tim Becker at 16:10. Ben Aldrich was Staples' top runner, taking seventh in 16:19; Victor Dahl of Greenwich took eighth in 16:52.
