Westport's Henry Wynne Runs To National Title In Mile

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport's Henry Wynne added to his laurels Sunday as he won the national championship in the mile at the New Balance National Track and Field championship meet in Greensboro, N.C.

Wynne, a senior at Staples High School, posted a time of 4:07.84 in the race, according to online results. 

He is also the national champion in the indoor mile, winning the New Balance Indoor Track and Field High School National Championships at The Armory in New York City in March in a time of 4:08.15. A video and story by The Daily Voice on that race can be found here.

He set a Connecticut record in May when he placed second in the Adidas High School Boys Dream Mile, running in 4:5.04 seconds. That also established a new school record and personal best. Read about that race here on The Daily Voice

Wynne is headed for the University of Virginia in the fall.
