Jurofsky, a senior coxswain who graduated from Staples High School, helped the Buckeyes win their third straight national championship Sunday in Gold River, Calif. She guided Ohio State’s first varsity eight to victory as the Buckeyes ran their record to 83-0 over the past two seasons.
Ohio State finished second in the Second Varsity Eight and fifth in the First Varsity Four. Ohio State totaled 128 points to defeat California, which was second with 114. Brown was third with 112.
Jurofsky also won the Big 10 championship with the Ohio State First Varsity Eight this spring. She served as the coxswain for several crews as a sophomore and was the coxswain for the second varsity four that won a bronze medal at the 2013 Big 10 championships.
She won a Big 10 championship last year when she directed Ohio State’s to a victory in the second varsity four.
Jurofsky began her rowing career at Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport and was the coxswain for the boys varsity eight. She is the daughter of Howard Jurofsky and Hyleri Katzenberg. In 2009, she was on an NBC show with her family called “The Great American Road Trip.”
