Westport Weston Y Team Swims Strong at States

WESTPORT, Conn. – Swimmers for the Westport Weston Family Y Water Rats had strong finishes in the Connecticut Age Group championships at Wesleyan University.

Marissa Healy, 10, won two events. She took first in the 50-yard butterfly with a new team record of 30.07. She also finished first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:09.41. Healy qualified for the Eastern Zone Team, which is the highest level of Age Group swimming.

John McNab, 10, also qualified for the Zone Team in two events. McNab scored 94.5 points at Age Groups, with third place in the 100 individual medley, fourth the in the 100 breast, fifth in 50 free and 100 free and seventh in the 50 breast and 200 IM.

The 10-and-under relay team of Esme Hunter (9 years old), Olivia Utter, Marissa Healy, and Michelle Kennedy came in second in the state in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. They were third in the 200 and 400 medley relays.

The 10-and-under relay team of John McNab, Sean Rogers (8 years old), Dorian Phillips, and Andrew Yu came in third in the 200 freestyle relay, just missing second by three-tenths of a second and first by six-tenths of a second.

The 9- and 10-year-old girls scored 348 points during the four-day meet, and the boys scored 307.5 points.
