Westport-Based Saugatuck Crews Shine in Saratoga

WESTPORT, Conn. – Saugatuck Rowing Club crews made an impressive medal haul last weekend at the Saratoga Invitational in New York.

Medals were awarded for each flight in Friday’s opening day. On Saturday and Sunday, the results were based off times from all flights.

In Friday’s competition, Saugatuck won the Girls Varsity 1x with Christina Johnson; two flights of the Girls Varsity 2x with Louisa Freeman-Jo Gurman and Breezy Ferrara-Natalie Clark; the boys lightweight 2x with Max Gibson-Marco Grant; and the Girls Junior B 2x with Anna Petterson-Mary Beth Greer.

The Girls Lightweight 2x took second with Connor Cashel and Greer, while Chris Babinec a Duncan Campbell took second in the Boys 2x. The Boys Varsity 2x took third with Jeff Monohan and John Morrison. Jo Gurman took third in the Girls Varsity 1x, and Allie Diamond and Annie Eick took second in the Girls 2x.

The Boys Varsity 8+ took second on Saturday and Sunday. The crew included Greg Zales, Max Gibson, Jake Esse, Lee Glicklich, Dave Kircher, Chris Babinec, Jake Petterson, Duncan Campell and Marco Grant.

The Girls Varsity 4x crew of Louisa Freeman, Jo Gurman, Connor Cashel and Mary Beth Greer finish with the top time on Sunday and was second on Saturday. The crew of Ferrara, Clark, Anna Petterson and Christina Johnson took second on both days.

The Boys Varsity 4+ finished with the third best time on Sunday with Lauren Hochman, Chris Fincher, Will Ritter, Christoph Bub and Jack Craymer.
