Weston's Kiki Litvak won the pole vault to lead the Trojans to a third-place finish in the Class M girls state track and field championships Saturday at the New Haven Athletic Center.
Weston compiled 48 ? points. Hillhouse won with 107, followed by Career with 62. Emily Savage finished second in the pole vault, and the Trojans picked up points with one second-place relay, two third-place relays and a fourth-place finish by Kara Bucaro in the 1,000.
Litvak, who placed second last year behind teammate Emily Ando, took the top spot this time by clearing 10 feet, 0 inches. Savage, a sophomore, cleared 9 feet, 6 inches to give the Trojans 18 points in the event.
Weston's sprint medley team grabbed second with Sara Dietzman, Hannah Goodman, Callie Arlo and Bucaro. Dietzman and Goodman ran 200 meters, Arlo, 400 and Bucaro, 800. They ran 4:25.51, while Hillhouse won in 4:21.01.
The 4x400 team of Bucaro, Sydney Allon, Whitney Farber and Arlo ran 4:21.84 to take third. The 4x200 team took third with Dietzman, Goodman, Amanda Matluck and Arlo. They were timed in 1:51.43.
Bucaro ran 3:02.83 in the 1,000 for fourth. Tess Fagan and Savage were among three athletes tied for fifth in the high jump, and Sara O'Brien tied for fourth with two other jumpers in the pole vault.
Weston's athletes will compete Saturday in the State Open at the New Haven Athletic Center. Complete results are available online.
