Weston's Dan Chase reached 1,000 career points for Greens Farms Academy in Wednesday's 60-52 loss to Hamden Hall in a Fairchester Athletic Association game.
Chase, a senior guard, scored 24 points for GFA (2-3), which rallied from a 35-15 halftime deficit to trim the lead to just two.
C.J. Smith, Brien Comey, Hunter Eggers and Will Pavlis powered GFAs second-half surge with the help of great defensive play from Sean Obi. Their tenacious attitude was contagious, and the home crowd at Coyle Gym helped the Dragons rally back and outscore Hamden Hall, 37-18, at one point in the second half. GFA could not sustain the momentum, however, and Hamden Hall pulled ahead for the win.
Obi, a sophomore from Greenwich, had another strong game with 14 points and 13 rebounds. He has five double-doubles in his five-game GFA career. Dan Hoffman and Christian Papic made valuable ball handling plays against the HH press.
GFA takes a break for the holidays and returns to FAA competition Jan. 5 at home against Rye Country Day.
