WESTON, Conn. Weston High School junior Jordan Berger won the 100-yard breaststroke in record time to lead the Trojans to a third-place team finish at the South-Weston Conference boys swimming championships.
Berger won the race in 1:00.05, which was one of six records set in the meet. Weston finished with 269 points, well behind meet winner Brookfield (597) and Pomperaug (579). The Trojans did swim past several teams it lost to during the regular season.
Berger also took third in the 200 individual medley. Other highlights for Weston included Dean Rapps fourth-place finish in diving, Gabe Imbers sixth-place in the 500 free, and two relays that finished in the top four.
The 200 free relay with Adam Winikoff, Marty Imber, Gabe Imber and Berger took third. The same four swimmers took fourth in the 400 free relay.
Weston was sixth in the opening 200 medley relay with James Austin, Eli Carter, Gabe Rosen and Ian McLoughlin. Gabe Imber took 10th in the 200 free, while Misha Moffly (ninth, diving), Toby Gerroll (10th, diving), Winikoff (ninth, 100 free), and Marty Imber (ninth, 100 backstroke) had other top 10 finishes.
Westons swimmers will compete in the Class S championships March 10 at Plainville. Weston won the title in 2008 and 2010, and finished second to Sacred Heart in 2009 and 2011.
