Weston Swimmer Wins 2 Races at County Meet

WESTON, Conn. – Weston Field Club swimmer Charlie Palsho won two races and 11 county records fell to highlight the season-ending meet in the Fairfield County Swimming League on Saturday at Roxbury Swim Club in Stamford.

The host team won its fourth league title in five years, followed by Rocky Point of Greenwich. Aspetuck Valley Country Club finished 15th while Weston FC took 19th.

Palsho, competing in the 10-and-under age group, won the 25-meter breaststroke and 100-meter individual medley. He was second in the butterfly. Palsho set a county record in the divisional championships just a week earlier. Justin Lessing took third in the boys 8-and-under backstroke.

For Aspetuck, Kiersten Daly took second in the girls 14-and-under backstroke, and Carolyn Morikawa was third in the girls 12-and-under breaststroke.

Weston’s Edward Stolarski, swimming for Norwalk-based Shore and Country Club, set a record in the boys 14-and-under backstroke. He rewrote a record he set in the Division 2 championships earlier in the week.

Roxbury compiled 1,291.5 points to outdistance Rocky Point, which finished with 1,116.  Guido Balderrama of Shore and Country Club and Roxbury’s William Montesi each set two new country records.
