Weston Swimmer Sets League Mark at Division Meet

WESTON, Conn. -- Charlie Palsho broke a 13-year-old league record to lead the Weston Field Club to a third-place team finish in the Fairfield County Swimming League Division 5 championships Saturday at Tamarack Country Club. The host club took team honors.

With a time of 17.12, Palsho broke E.J. Verrico's 1998 mark of 17.62 in the 25-meter breaststroke. He also added victories in the 25-meter butterfly and 100-meter individual medley.

Other winners for Weston included Lucy Watson in the 17-and-under 50-meter butterfly and breaststroke and 100 individual medley; Charlotte Proceller in the girls 10-and-under 100 individual medley and 50 meter freestyle; Justin Lessing in the boys 8-and-under 25 meter backstroke and freestyle; and Charlie Gosnell in the boys 12-and-under 50 backstroke.

Weston finished with 755.5 points. Tamarack won with 1,020, followed by Silver Spring with 916. Black Rock (650) was fourth, followed by Stanwich Club (525) and the Field Club of Greenwich 75.5).

Swimmers who qualify will compete in the county championships Saturday at the Roxbury Club in Stamford. Complete results of the Division 5 meet are available on the Fairfield County Swimming League website.
