Weston Runners Win a Pair

WESTON, Conn. – Weston's boys cross country team improved to 7-2 Tuesday by defeating Bethel and Notre Dame of Fairfield in a race at Bethel High School. The Trojans also fell to New Milford.The meet scores were 17-45 over Bethel and 15-49 against Notre Dame. The Green Wave (6-0) are ranked just outside the top 10 in the weekly state coaches poll.David Stankiewicz finished first for Weston and third overall, cruising through the 5k course in 17:40. Noah Krassin (17:46) took fourth, followed by Matt Bolin (seventh, 18:16), Will Glaser (11th, 18:31) and freshman Cole Clark (19:01). Weston was missing Brad DeMarco, one of its top runners, who was sidelined with an injury.Weston will run Saturday in the Brewster Invitational. The Trojans won their division in the Wilton Invitational earlier this year.

Weston's girls went 1-2 in Tuesday's race, beating Notre Dame 21-34. The Trojans lost to Bethel, 15-44, and New Milford, 15-50. Sara Schweitzer led Weston with a time of 24:11 on the 5k course.
