Weston Boys Track Wins a Pair

WESTON, Conn. – Weston’s boys won their  first track meets of the season when they toppled Bethel and Immaculate Tuesday at Bethel High School. The Trojans also dropped a narrow decision to New Fairfield.

Weston, which tied Bunnell in its first meet of the season in early April, edged Bethel 76-73 and crushed Immaculate, 111-37. The Trojans lost to New Fairfield, 84-64.

Weston’s winners included David Stankiewicz in the 800, the 4 x 800 team of Cole Clark, Will Glaser, Brad DeMarco and Noah Krassin, Larry Cass in the shot put and Chris Chao in the 110 high hurdles. Chao also took second in the 300 intermediate.

“That’s the best New Fairfield team I’ve seen in 11 years of coaching,’’ Weston coach Lloyd Weinstein said. “We’re very strong in some areas, but we have holes.”

Cass threw 42 feet, 1 inch to win the shot put. He captured the event at the South-West Conference indoor championships.

Weston is scheduled to compete at the O’Grady Relays Saturday at Danbury High School. It meets Pomperaug, Notre Dame of Fairfield and Brookfield Tuesday in Southbury.
