WESTON, Conn. – Champion runners will be vying for cash prizes at the Weston Memorial Day Weekend 5K road race on Saturday.

The top three runners will win $100, $50 and $25, with awards given to the top three finishers in six age groups, from youth to veterans.

Race Director Karen Sitney said 300 people are registered for the race so far, but she predicts 700 runners by race day.

The race starts and ends at Weston High School and travels through residential and historic Weston neighborhoods, from Old Hyde Road to Norfield Road before it winds back to School Road.

The race starts at 8:30 Saturday with walkers starting at 8:35 a.m. and a kids' fun run at 8 a.m.

The race is USATF-certified with electronic chip timing. There will be mile splits and a water station. This is the 19th annual Weston 5K road race with proceeds benefiting the high school.
