Toomer and Thomas Go the Distance

Easton's Chris Thomas helped former Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer raise over $25,000 for the New York Road Runners Club. It took him a little more than four hours to do it.

Thomas, the owner of Personal Training Professionals in Southport, trained Toomer to run in Sunday's ING New York City Marathon. They completed the run 4 hours and 13 minutes. Toomer started dead last in the race, which featured over 40,000 runners. Timex donated $1 for each runner Toomer passed to the NYRR's youth programs. Thomas and Toomer passed about 25,000 runners.

"This was an amazing experience,'' Chris said. "The NYC marathon is truly unbelievable. We had some major highs and some major challenges, but we persevered and got across the finish line. A marathon is always an incredible experience and this race certainly lived up to the hype. Amani was a pleasure to work with. He is very competitive and has already said that he wants to do the race again in 2011."
