Registration for Westport baseball and softball's Fall Seasons is now underway. Players should register as soon as possible so WBS can sort out the number of teams and coaches required. Registrations received after Aug. 25 will be subject to availability and will not be guaranteed a roster spot.
Little League Softball this year will be for grades 2-10 (girls no older than 14 years as of 12/31/09). In cases where there is more than one league option for a player the evaluation from last spring will be used to allocate them. This is primarily a weekend league with games Friday evening, Saturday afternoon or evening and/or Sunday afternoon. Generally there will be 2 games, and a practice some or most weeks. No make ups for rain outs. We will play teams from Fairfield, Black Rock, Trumbull and maybe a fewothers. There are no standings and the emphasis is on fun and skills development. Little League Baseball is organized in the Fall by grade for grades 3-6 as well as any 7th graders born after 4/30/98. The focus is recreational and instructional as there are no standings and no playoffs. Playing time is equal. There are no evaluation/tryouts required. There is one two-hour Saturday game and one practice per week. Projected Saturday game times are: Grades 6/7 - 9:00am; Grade 4 - 11:00am; Grade 5 - 1:00pm; and Grade 3 - 3:30pm. Team notifications are expected no later than Sept. 3, with games set to begin Sept. 4 and end Oct. 30.
