Mulia Gets an Anniversary Race Win

Saturday was the one-week anniversary of Adam Mulia's win at the Westport Road Runners 8.4-mile race. But more important, Monday is the fifth anniversary of his wedding to Patricia, who is also a strong runner.

The pair tried for a double-ring ceremony at the penultimate event of the series, a 9.3-mile run from Compo Beach. But just like last week, Patricia had to settle for the runner-up sport behind Catherine Galin. Of course, leaving her racing shoes at home in Brooklyn didn't help; wearing her mother-in-law's flats, Patricia finished nearly three minutes behind Galin.

Her husband won by even more over Tom Parise, who notched his fifth runner-up finish in nine races this summer. So while Adam and Patricia celebrated being husband and wife, Parise had to settle for being the bridesmaid one more time.

Weather perfect for a wedding or a long race blessed the area for the fourth straight Saturday, drawing 117 runners, the second highest total in the 48-year history of the series, which concludes next Saturday with a 10-mile run from Staples High School. Complete results and information on next week's race is available on the Road Runners website.
