WESTON, Conn. A camp that introduces young children to the competitive and athletically challenging world of triathlons is coming to Weston this spring.
The Fairfield-based athletic training company, Trifitness, will run a five-day Youth Camp during the schools April vacation. Top triathletes and coaches will offer instruction on basic swimming, cycling and running techniques as well as cycling safety and maintenance, sport transitioning and nutrition. During the final day of the camp, which is open to children ages 7 to 14, campers will compete in a mini-triathlon.
To participate, campers must be able to swim one lap of a pool, about 50 yards; run one lap of a track, about a quarter mile; and bike 2 miles. Each camper must bring his or her own bicycle and helmet.
The camp will be held at Weston Middle School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 16 to 20. For more information, call 203-255-8892.
