Greens Farms Wrestling Takes 2nd in League Tourney

The Greens Farms Academy wrestling team hosted the Fairchester Athletic Association tournament Saturday in Westport, looking to capture its first conference team title.

The Dragons came focused and ready to compete, but fell short in their final duel against The Brunswick School. While Greens Farms failed to take the team title, senior Harry Garland (182 lbs., Westport) and freshman Riley Grady (113 lbs., Darien) clinched conference titles at their respective weights.

The first match was a decisive 42-24 victory over Hopkins with big wins coming from freshman Aubrey Carter (138 lbs., Old Greenwich) and senior Max Perron (132 lbs., New Canaan). Greens Farms came away with an equally decisive 46-17 win over Hamden Hall.

The roll ended for Greens Farms after it dropped several big matches early in the following round against Rye Country Day. But Garland and Grady responded with big pins to help the Dragons eke out a 36-34 win.

The final match with Brunswick began with big expectations, but due to forfeits at the upper weight classes and a couple of close decisions in Brunswick’s favor, the Dragons fell to 3-1 on the day.
