Easton's River Kynoch Wins Bronze At Synchro Worlds

EASTON, Conn. -- River Kynoch of Easton and her teammates on the Haydenettes won the bronze medal in the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships held in Boston over the weekend.

It is Kynoch's second year on the team and her second bronze medal. It is the fourth year in a row the Haydenettes, skating as USA Team No. 1, have placed third.

The Haydenettes scored a total of 202.53 points, including 130.66 points for their Latin-infused free skate. Both the short and free programs were skated clean, without any falls or deductions.

Miami University, skating as USA Team No. 2, moved from 10th after the short program to eighth after earning 115.63 points for its free skate. The team's total was 172.01 for the event.

Team Unique (Finland Team No. 1) narrowly won the gold with 208.77 points. NEXXICE (Canada Team No. 1) took the silver with 208.25 points.

The event was held at Boston University's Agganis Arena, practically in the backyard of the Haydenettes, based in Lexington, Mass.

The Haydenettes, made up of women ages 18 to 26, won their 21st national title in March. Kynoch, 18, is a graduate of Joel Barlow High School in Redding and now attends Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.
