Easton's Chris Thomas Wins Triathlon Honor From Timex

EASTON, Conn. – Easton’s Chris Thomas was named the 2012 Amateur Male Triathlete of the Year by the watchmaker TIMEX. He received the award Saturday in East Rutherford, N.J.

Thomas, 41, owns Personal Training Professionals of Southport. He received the award at the TIMEX Performance Center.

“I was honored to win the award this year,'' Thomas said. "The TIMEX Team has so many top level athletes. I have been a member of the Timex Multisport team since 2003, and it is a privilege to be a part of such a wonderful organization. ” Thomas was also named USA Triathlon Masters Athlete of the Year 2012, USA Triathlon Amateur Overall Athlete of the Year 2009 and is a 10-time USA Triathlon All-American. He has finished as the first overall amateur in more than 25 triathlon races, including the Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island from 2008 to 2012 and the Ironman 70.3 Timberman from 2008 to 2011. In 2010, TIMEX selected Thomas to train former New York Giant Amani Toomer for the ING New York City Marathon. Thomas resides in Easton with his wife and three children, and coaches triathlon as part of Lifesport coaching.
