Eastonites Root for the Huskies

Ben Bromer of Easton was rooting for the University of Connecticut basketball team on Monday night at the Lumberyard Pub in Georgetown. "Eastonites and Connecticut people have to root for our team," said Bromer. Karen Frattaroli of Easton was also cheering for UConn at the Lumberyard.

And UConn did not disappoint, as it beat Butler, 53-41, in the final in Houston. It was the third title for UConn, all earned under coach Jim Calhoun.

"I think everyone is underestimating Butler, but UConn has better matchups," Matt Kipp of Easton said before the game. Kipp, a senior at Joel Barlow High School, works at the Easton Village Store and said the UConn games are a common topic of conversation among his customers.

"I usually talk to the customers about UConn, especially the regulars," said Kipp.
