Dragon Lacrosse Rally Falls Short Against Rye

The Greens Farms Academy boys lacrosse team battled back from a big hole but lost a heartbreaker to Rye Country Day, 8-7, on Monday afternoon. After going down 5-0 in the first seven minutes of the game, the Dragons battled back and ended up tying the game, 7-7, with less than two minutes to play.

On the ensuing faceoff, Rye scored quickly on a fast break to go up, 8-7. Will Pavlis of Fairfield won the next faceoff, and the Dragons got two great looks at the cage with only seconds remaining. With 10 seconds left on the clock, Rye goalie, Michael Farber made another of 10 tough saves to thwart GFA's last attempt to tie the game.

Jake Becker scored three times for the Dragons and dished out three assists. Conor Eckert scored twice.

The team is now 8-6 and will be back in action with another Fairchester Athletic Association game vs. St. Luke's on Wednesday.
