The Joel Barlow softball team tuned up for this week's season opener by playing in a jamboree Saturday at Bethel High School. The Falcons open the season Wednesday against Abbott Tech of Danbury. Their home opener is Thursday against Notre Dame of Fairfield.
Barlow finished 8-12 last year and reached the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference playoffs for the first time in five years. Under first-year coach Kristen Fallo, Barlow is seeking to return to the state playoffs and contend for the South-West Conference playoffs. The team has 11 returning players from last year.
