Emma Kirchner, representing Stamford's Arena Gymnastics, made the 4-inch width of the balance beam look like a three-lane highway by cruising to the gold medal with the top score of 9.625 in the 12-year-old division of the USA Gymnastics Level 8 Regional Championships last week in North Andover, Mass.
Kirchner, of Ridgefield, also made the podium by taking bronze in the all-around (37.20) and placed fifth on the uneven bars (9.425) and sixth in the floor exercise (9.325).
Arena teammate Pamela Onorato of Westport also made the winner's podium in the 14-year-old division by grabbing bronze on bars (9.20) and placing sixth on beam (8.875).
