Weston Teens to Perform at Benefit Talent Show

WESTON, Conn. – For a $5 donation you can enjoy the Teen PeaceWorks talent show Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Weston High School cafeteria.

Your donation will support Domestic Violence Crisis Center shelters in Connecticut, according to Jessica Riley, senior class president and co-president of the school’s Teen PeaceWorks chapter, which has 30 members. The locations of the crisis centers are not disclosed, Riley said.  

The group holds fundraisers throughout the year to support its mission, which is to raise awareness of dating abuse among students in Weston. It raised almost $1,000 at a danceathon last winter.

The talent show features two local bands, Chillingsworth and Borrowed Glory, as well as solo singers. Riley said she’ll perform as a solo act or with one of her friends.

The talent show is co-sponsored by the student government and also includes a senior date auction, where students can win dates with seniors. “They bid on them and go out on dates. We’ve been doing it for years to raise money for the shelters,” Riley said.
