Weston Students Can Earn $35K for Going Green

WESTON, Conn. ? Students at Weston High School can earn some serious green while trying to make their school a greener place.

Connecticut Light & Power has announced a Live Green-Win Green contest open to all high school students who reside in the utility company’s service area. The contest was put in place by the utility to build green awareness within the community and to reward the schools who support their students’ goal.

High School students should submit a video and essay showcasing the changes they would like to see at their school in an effort to make it more eco-friendly. The winners will receive a $20,000 grant that will be applied to their green project. Three runners-up will receive $5,000 each.

Students must produce a two-minute video showcasing the changes they are making to conserve energy and make the school environmentally friendly. The essay can be no longer than 1,000 words. It must detail all environmental and energy-efficiency changes students would like to see implemented at their school and state what financial resources they need to accomplish their goals. All entries must include proof of supervision from a high school adviser.
