Weston Schools Collect for Needy Children

WESTON, Conn. ? Beginning next week, Hurlbutt Elementary and Weston Intermediate School students and their families will be asked to donate a holiday gift and food item for those who are less fortunate.

The donations will go to families from The Evergreen Network in Bridgeport who have an income level that is 200 percent below the national poverty level. The goal of the network and the Weston schools is to provide a gift and ensure that the children get a breakfast and lunch when not in school over the holiday break.

Last year, Hurlbutt and Weston Intermediate School helped 64 families by collecting 120 bins of food and gifts. Donations are being collected at the schools Dec. 5 through 9.

For more information or to make a donation, contact Cheryl Bryant-Komar at komar1@optonline.net (203-557-3126), Lynda Brennan at lyndaabrennan@hotmail.co.uk from Hurlbutt PTO Community Services, Meg Lawrence at meglaw91@gmail.com or Carolyn Mariyappa at cmariyappa@me.com for Weston Intermediate PTO Community Services.
