Weston School Blog Takes on All-Day Kindergarten

WESTON, Conn. – Weston kindergartners just might get a longer day if the Weston School District approves an all-day kindergarten program for fall 2012.

Superintendent of Schools Colleen Palmer said on her blog Monday morning, “The district is considering the implementation of an all-day kindergarten for students in fall 2012. A presentation by administration will be made to the Board Curriculum Committee at its upcoming meeting this Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 8 a.m. in the [Weston Intermediate School] cafetorium.”

The district has not released any curriculum outline for this initiative because it is only in the preliminary discussion stage. Palmer said the district has conducted two parent sessions on the issue and said a decision would be finalized within the next six weeks.
