WESTON, Conn. The town of Weston is opening a 24-hour emergency shelter at Weston Middle School and has canceled school for Monday and Tuesday, Selectman Dave Muller says Sunday morning.
Weston Public Schools will be closed Monday, Oct. 31, and Tuesday, Nov. 1, due to the destructive impact of the snow storm over the weekend and continuing pervasive power outages throughout the town, according to the school system's website.
The school system will reassess by Tuesday afternoon about whether to open schools Wednesday, Nov. 2. A communication will be sent to families no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
Residents may be looking for a place to be warm: The 80 percent of the town's homes are without power in the aftermath of the Halloween nor'easter, according to Connecticut Light & Power.
