Weston, Barlow High Schools Rank Among Connecticut's Best

EASTON, REDDING, WESTON, Conn. -- Weston High School and Joel Barlow High School have been both ranked among the best in Connecticut by U.S. News & World Report in rankings released Tuesday morning.

Weston High School was ranked the fifth-best in Connecticut and best in Fairfield.

Weston High School was the highest ranked high school in all of Fairfield County, and came in as the fifth best in the state.

Weston's student population of 1,879 exceeded the state average in all of the surveys major metrics, which included: College readiness, mathematics proficiency and English proficiency. The school also boasts an Advanced Placement participation rate of 62 percent.

Joel Barlow, which serves students from both Easton and Redding, was ranked 13th in the state and sixth in Fairfield County. It also exceeded the state average in all three metrics.  

Several other high schools in Fairfield County were ranked in the top 50 in the state, including:

  • Staples (No. 7)
  • Darien (No. 8)
  • Wilton (No. 9)
  • Ridgefield (No. 11)
  • Joel Barlow (No. 13) 
  • Greenwich (No. 14) 
  • New Canaan (No. 15)
  • Fairfield Ludlowe (No. 24)
  • Fairfield Warde (No. 30)
  • Westhill High (No. 32)
  • Brien McMahon (No. 41)
  • Academy of Information Technology & Engineering (No. 43)

Honors for the top ranked high school in the Nutmeg State went to the Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy in East Hartford.
