The Board of Finance asked the school board to cut its budget by an additional $300,000, which would violate the state's minimum budget requirement and jeopardize the Education Cost Sharing money Redding receives from the state, the Pilot said.
Jess Gaspar, Board of Education chair, said he did not agree with the Board of Finance’s decision to force the school board to consider “an illegal budget,” the Pilot said.
