Progress Reports Go Digital at Joel Barlow High

EASTON, Conn. – Students at Joel Barlow High School won't be coming home with progress reports this semester. Instead, school administrators have decided to go digital, allowing parents to have access to their child’s performance online.

Head of School Tom McMorran sent a letter to parents saying they can access academic progress via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. By now, he said, parents should already have a login name and password. If not, they should contact the PowerSchool manager at powerschool@er9.org to request access information.

“The administration has directed our teachers to update their electronic grade books and add comments as needed by 7:30 a.m. on Friday, December 16," McMorran said. "I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to use the parent portal to check on your child’s progress, preferably after 7:30 a.m. tomorrow.”

Parents unable to access the parent portal can email the Data Office at powerschool@er9.org with a request for help.

“What we encourage each family to do is sit with the student and discuss progress. I encourage students to speak with their teachers, and I suggest parents send brief emails as necessary. Our counselors are also available to help,” McMorran wrote.
