‘Peter Pan’ Takes Flight In Westport This Weekend

WESTPORT, Conn. — You don’t have to travel to Neverland to see Peter Pan, Wendy and Captain Hook this weekend. Instead, these characters will come to life on stage at Coleytown Middle School in Westport during the Coleytown Company production of “Peter Pan.”

This classic tale about Peter Pan — a mischievous boy who flies — and his romp through Neverland with Wendy, Michael and John, opens Friday night and runs through Sunday.

In the show, directed by Ben Frimmer, cast members will literally take flight thanks to help from ZFX (Zealous Flying Effects), the same company that helps the cast of the Broadway musical “Wicked” fly.

“With each production we do, I strive to push the envelope on what middle schools and most high schools try to do,” Frimmer said in a statement. “I'm not looking for children to simply put on a play or memorize lines. It's about the process of theater. It's about making meaning from the text. It's about exploring character.”

The show is choreographed by Michelle Berti, who performed in the Tony-nominated Broadway production of Cathy Rigby’s “Peter Pan” from 1998 to 2000.

Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $12 and may be purchased in the lobby up to 45 minutes before the show. For more information, call 203-341-1683.
