Flu Shots Offered to Barlow Students and Family

EASTON, Conn. – The following is a message from Tom McMorran, Joel Barlow's Head of School: 

On Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the Bethel Visiting Nurses Association will be in the John Read Middle School Community Room to provide seasonal flu vaccines to all Barlow students and family members who wish to have one. Flu shots will be available to all over 6 months. FluMist will be available by request for those ages 2 to 49 with no medical contraindications.

Consent forms may be printed ahead of time, but please do not sign prior to the clinic. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please wear loose-fitting clothing and your bring medical insurance card. Some policies cover the cost of flu vaccine while others don’t, and copays or deductibles may apply. Check your policy prior to the clinic. The nurses must see insurance cards at the clinic. As a courtesy, Bethel VNA will submit claims to the following insurance companies: Aetna, Aetna Medicare, Anthem BC/BS Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem), Connecticare, Connecticare Medicare, Health Net Medicare, Medicare Part B, Oxford and Wellcare Medicare.

If your insurance company is not listed above, the cost of the flu shot is $35 and fluMist $40 to be paid by cash or check made out to Bethel VNA. They will provide you with a receipt to submit for reimbursement.
