Helen Keller Middle School PTA Co-President Heidi Adair invites you to discuss the Easton schools budget.
Dr. Dan Underberger, chairman of the Easton Board of Education, will attend an informal question and answer session on school spending Friday, Feb. 25, at 9:30 a.m. in the Easton Public Library's community room.
"Join us for coffee and muffins, come to find out what the discussion is about and learn the budget issues that affect everyone BEFORE cuts are made," stated a PTA email.
The following is a summary, provided by the PTA, outlining recent school board and administration decisions:
? In January, Superintendent Michael Cicchetti presented a preliminary budget increase of 3.84 percent to the Board of Education at its regular meeting.
? At that meeting, school administrators were asked to prepare a series of tiered cuts for the February school board meeting.
? On Tuesday, Feb. 8, both the central office and the school administrators presented seven tiers of cuts that would gradually bring the budget down to a zero-percent increase.
? The board voted on a final version of the budget, with an increase of 2.31 percent.
? On Tuesday, March 8, the Board of Ed will present this budget to the Board of Finance.
