The death of 27-year old English teacher Cody Thomas, who lived in Fairfield, is the third in the Staples community this school year, the News said.
Freshman Christopher Lanni committed suicide last month, and school counselor Chris Lemone died in October, the Westport News reported.
School superintendent Elliott Landon sent out an email on Monday to parents, teachers and students telling them that counselors would be available all day in the school's community room and the Library Media Center classrooms, the Westport News said.
Thomas had worked as a journalist before becoming a teacher. He also was an instructor for the Connecticut Writing Project at Fairfield University and was an adviser for the school's student newspaper.
Thomas graduated from New York University’s Arthur Carter Institute of Journalism and wrote for the Stamford Advocate.
