Course Boosts Students' Skills

With school about to resume in Weston, now might be a good time for your child to take a study skills refresher course. S4, Successful Study Skills for Students, LLC will host a workshop at Weston Middle School for sixth through eighth graders.

"The goal is to equip students with the skills they need to be successful learners and students. Limited class size ensures participation in specific interactive activities designed to reinforce the skills taught and engage even the most reluctant student," said S4 president Michelle Sagalyn. The first and second classes of 15 students each filled up quickly, so a third has been created to fall at the same time in a different classroom.

S4 recently held workshops at John Read Middle School and Joel Barlow High School in Redding, Helen Keller Middle School in Easton, and will hold a six hour program at King, a private school in Stamford later this month. Fairfield Continuing Education will also sponsor workshops in Fairfield in September.

Connecticut certified teachers with master's degrees will teach the three 4½-hour sessions in Weston on Sept. 28, Oct. 5 and 12 from 2:45 to 4:15. The workshop costs $300 per student.
