The moderator will be Jean Rabinow, a member of the Steering Committee of the League of Women Voters of the Bridgeport Area and director of Outreach and Education Fund of the League of Women Voters of Connecticut.
During the debate, the candidates will be asked to answer questions collected from the audience and read by the moderator. Then they will have the opportunity to make a closing statement.
Candidates participating for the P&Z will be Chip Stephens (R), Al Gratrix (R), Cathy Walsh (R), Jack Whittle (R), Paul Lebowitz (D) and from Coalition for Westport (CFW) Denise Torve, Howard Lathrop and Glenn Payne.
The ZBA is uncontested, but two of the three candidates, Liz Wong (R) and Jim Ezzes (D), will speak briefly. The other candidate, Bill Harris (R), is unable to attend due to a work conflict.
The Board of Assessment Appeals is also uncontested but the one candidate, Garson Heller (R), will deliver brief remarks.
In addition to the debate, there will be an opportunity to meet the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting from Westport’s nine election districts in the Town Hall lower lobby from 6:15 to 6:55 p.m.
The League of Women Voters of Westport, now in its 66th year, is a nonpartisan organization that promotes informed and active participation in government and community. The league neither supports nor opposes any political party or candidate.
