Weston, Easton, Redding Reps Rated On Environment

HARTFORD, Conn. – Two of the state legislators representing Weston, Easton and Redding are considered friends of the environment, and the third is not, according to the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters' Environmental Scorecard.

Republican State Sens. Toni Boucher and John McKinney scored 100, while Republican State Rep. John Shaban scored 53 percent.

Lori Brown, executive director of conservation league, called Boucher and McKinney “champions of the environment,” and Shaban “a problem.”

The average score for legislators was 91 percent.

The report card ranked individual legislators on their votes cast during the 2012 session of the Connecticut General Assembly.

The League tracked approximately 21 bills during the three-month legislative session.  Eight were termed hostile to the environment and 13 were favorable. Four of the pro-environment bills passed, while three others made a good showing, the league said, and all the hostile bills were defeated, defanged or transformed into friendly legislation.
